Tame Impala @ Madison Square Garden (2019)
In June 2016, @amerol01 and @dufer957 headed into the Woodlands for our second Firefly. Top of the wishlist: Tame Impala.
Then something unexpected happened. We met these new friends who convinced us to bail on Tame. That night was the first time I saw Porter and it quite literally changed the course of my musical identity.
Took me 3 years but finally got the chance to see Kevin Parker’s masterpiece at Madison Square Garden this week and holy shit was it worth the wait. The way his backing band can follow his lead flawlessly. The most insane laser rig since Bassnectar. And omg the confetti.
The mark of a special performer is one who makes you listen to their music differently. I’d take it a step further that this show makes me listen to the whole genre differently.
Basking in the afterglow of having my face melted, I got lost in this Modern Psychedelia playlist. Not even going to try and list artists, there are over 100 and the only one I even recognize is this lone Khruangbin track.
