Avicii’s Unfinished Album Announced
This month marks one year since we tragically lost Tim Bergling aka Avicii to suicide. A brilliant producer, Avicii first burst on the scene with Levels in 2011, sampling the same Etta James track used by Pretty Lights on their breakout hit Finally Moving.
After years of brutal touring schedule that thrust a relatively private person into an endless international spotlight, Avicii found himself consumed by a lifestyle he never wanted.
“Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in” his family said in a statement after his death. “He was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.”
This week, we learned that Tim left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music. His family will be releasing this album, titled TIM, this June with net proceeds to support the Tim Bergling Foundation to raise awareness for issues related to mental illness and suicide prevention.
