Have You Noticed I’ve Been Gone
23 tracks on the Better Spins playlist this week (which is surprising, considering I feel like I listened to nothing but Worlds, The Ineffable Truth, and All My Friends for days).
Some highlights:
- The Funk Hunters – Party Rockin (Sparkee Remix). Never apologize for party rockin.
- Gotye – Puzzle With A Piece Missing. All the hype may have gone to Somebody That I Used To Know but real OGs know this is his best track. Fun fact: He is Australian-Belgian and his real name is Wouter “Wally” De Backer.
- Tycho, Saint Sinner – Japan. Tycho with vocals, where have you been all my life??
- John Mayer – My Stupid Mouth. With all the social media hate this guy takes nowadays, it’s hard to remember 18yrs ago when Room for Squares came out and he was literally the heartthrob.
- Feed Me (ft. Rosie Doonan) – Feel Love. Very floaty, vocals have a very Florence and the Machine quality. h/t @vodakov
- Conro – Remember You (Chill Mix). It literally says “chill mix” in the title. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Second Sky Honorable Mentions
- Porter Robinson – Sad Machine. “And though I know, since you’ve awakened her again, she depends on you.” Cements its distinction as my all-time favorite song.
- Porter Robinson, Madeon – Shelter. I legitimately never thought I’d get to see live Shelter again, to experience this one more time made my heart burst.
- Porter Robinson – Polygon Dust. Live edit was absolutely bonkers. Also had totally forgotten Lemaitre did the vocals for this track.
- Madeon – Pixel Empire. Doesn’t get the same love as the rest of Adventure but this track really stands out in how it helped shape the world he was trying to create.
- G Jones – Understanding the Possibility. This song has so much depth, I’ve probably cleared two dozen listens and I still find myself getting lost in it.
