John Frusciante Returns to Red Hot Chili Peppers
Stars aligns and planets collided last week when the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced John Frusciante would be coming back to the band.
Unfortunately, that meant bad news for lead guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
They just said, ‘We’ll get right to it. We’ve decided to ask John to come back to the band,’ ” Klinghoffer said. “And I just sat there quiet for a second and I said, ‘I’m not surprised.’ And the only thing I could think to say was, ‘I wish I could have done something with you guys, musically or creatively, that would have made this an absolute impossibility.’
This isn’t a guy who stood in for a few shows here and there. Josh has been with them for 10 years, played 2 tours, and recorded almost 3 albums. But he seems to get it, calling it a “complete shock but not a surprise.” Flex said it was “very painful.”

They were the best Chilis with John, recording Mother’s Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik during their first run and Californication, By The Way, and Stadium Arcadium during their second. The chemistry is so organic, like Stamos and Saget. Lebron and D. Wade. Porter and Madeon.
It only took them 9 months to put out Californication when they reunited last time. Can’t wait to see what they have in store.
