Second Sky 2018 Initial Lineup Announced

Last week, Porter announced his new project: The Second Sky festival (originally named Multiverse until he faced some serious backlash from another festival of the same name). While I could not be more excited that Porter is putting on a festival, the guy had to go and do it on Father’s Day. I love you Porter, but the CMan always comes first.

The lineup is predictably heavy on Porter’s own influences with 7 acts already announced: Kero Kero Bonito, Anamanaguchi, G Jones, Nina Las Vegas, Chrome Sparks, Cashmere Cat, and WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA. Check out Porter’s instagram for his personal review of each artist, you’ll really get a sense of why he chose these acts for Second Sky. Here’s G Jones:

As Billy McFarland learned v quickly, putting on a festival is more than just booking acts. The logistics behind this have been in the works for a long time and it’s great to see all the little details that mark a good festival: activate passionate niche audience, unique lineup (where else you seeing Kero Kero Bonito play before G Jones??), strong social media promotion. He’s getting 25k+ likes on Insta by announcing each artist individually but keeping the artistic consistency of the branding:

I found it really cool how his team is gamifying the presale to help get the word out:
