Electronic Music Producers Who Are Classically Trained Musicians

I often find people are surprised when they learn electronic music producers are classically trained musicians. Manila Killa grew up playing the cello, then the drums and later the guitar. Zedd has been composing on the piano since he was four and spent 8 years (!) as the drummer for a Metalcore band.

CloZee has said that “classical training has given me an ear for sounds that I like to incorporate into my music. You’ll hear flamenco, as well as traditional sounds from Eastern Europe, India, and South America.”

Most of my favorite concerts involve some combination of electronic and live music. If you think of a MIDI controller as a programmable piano, is this any less of an instrument? Artists that know how to harness this tool and meld it with other instruments have so many options at their disposal, anything is possible.
