Left A Light On For You

25 new tracks on the Better Spins playlist this week. Some highlights:

  • Feed Me, Graham Fink – Till the Wheels Come Off. Every week as I write the newsletter, I listen to the BS Playlist. This is the song that got me bouncing in my chair like it was my first time. Vocals bring me into U2 headspace with a fairly simple electronic build behind it.
  • k?d – Final Paradise. After EDC 2017, I called this dude “Porter’s bass’y little brother.” Much more similar to Spitfire vs. Worlds but I’m super into this guy.
  • Bassjackers, Apster – No Style. It can definitely be done poorly, but I really dig it when we get an inner monologue in the middle of the track. My favorite instance of this is Todd Terry’s monologue on A-Trak’s DJs Gotta Dance More. Tadashi also hit on that vibe this week but in a much more chill way.
  • Lane 8, RBBTS – Visions. It’s new Lane 8, of course it makes the playlist.
  • Chrome Sparks – Ultraviolet Rainbow. Gotta throw some love to Chrome Sparks after he was announced for Second Sky Fest.
  • Yelle – Romeo. Basically a French version of how A R I Z O N A “makes the cold nights feel like summer days”

Honorable Mentions

  • Ekali, 1788-L – R U I N. Not for everyone (honestly not for most). Takes you on a weird, weird journey but if you give yourself to it you’re in for a one-of-a-kind experience.
  • SahBabii – Squidiculous. To be honest, the track was just aight but hearing “squidiculous” over and over was too good to pass up. It’s no Squidrific though.
