Madeon Opens Up About the Struggles of Writing Good Faith

It has been over 3 years since Shelter and even longer since Adventure. It’s easy for over-the-top Madeon fans like yours truly to get impatient. After all, we know you have been writing new music (you’ve told us that much)…how long until we get to hear it??

Turns out creating something from nothing is not that simple. In the spirit of promoting self care, Madeon posted an intimate message this week about his struggle to ship Good Faith.

Hugo describes the competing themes of this project (“making sense of joy, making sense of darkness”) and how grateful he is to “have an audience with the patience and empathy to afford me the time to be healthy.”

As someone who often finds himself consumed by creative projects that push me to near-manic levels, this really hit home. In my mind, the idea has all this potential, all these subtle ways that make it uniquely and personally mine. It’s easy to say “no one will notice” but the reality is that someone will notice: I will.

I admire the drive and commitment of any artist that holds themselves to their own standard, regardless of what their label or even fanbase may expect.
