Madeon & the music [Playlist Recommendation]

Last week I wrote about artist-curated playlists and somehow forgot to mention Madeon & the music99 tracks that are so all over the place and so so so awesome.

From Disclosure and Louis the Child to Frank Ocean and Chance the RapperGoing old school with Earth Wind & FirePrinceStevie Wonder and the Carpenters but then bringing it right back with Tame Impala remixing Miguel and even throwing in some Vulfpeck.

This playlist also shows international influences, from French artists Christine and the Queens and Michel Polnareff to Japanese vibes from Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, New Zealand flow from Yumi Zouma and we can’t forget about Canada’s own Mac DeMarco.

Kill Paris has been on my list for a while, after some artist I’ve since forgotten hyped him on Insta. I’d describe as easy listening dance music. It has a good energy to it but something I found myself able to listen to while writing proposals. Easy on Me I could definitely get serious Madeon vibes at certain parts, in other parts you would never make a Madeon connection in a million years. Other solid callouts are ArrivalFizzy Lifting Drink (best. name. ever), and I Can Feel Your Love.

Robert DeLong has drawn a lot of inspiration from Mystery Skulls, which you can clearly sense the similarities in their respective styles. The only way I know how to describe Mystery Skulls is “Robert Delong’y” so do with that what you will. If you listen to one song, might I suggest Magic ft. Nile Rodgers (won Grammy for Random Access Memories w/ Daft Punk). Once you’re hooked, listen to Don’t Fuck With My Money and Forever.
