String Cheese Incident On The Road: Travelogue 2019

My all-time favorite thing about any beach house is the outdoor shower. With the ~22 minutes a day I had to myself during this trip, I would grab the bluetooth speaker and a beer (or three) and head out back for a little salt air and .

I decided to spin The String Cheese Incidents On The Road: Travelogue 2019, a compilation of 34 of their favorite live recordings from their 25th anniversary tour.

They open with an 11min rendition of Blackberry Blossom and during the interlude we get a really cool peak into their origin story:

Back in the day when we first started playing, we were just kinda like a bluegrass, newgrass, doggrass kinda band. We has this friend of ours, Bruce Hagas, and we played this Blackberry Blossom and he said, when you get to the end of that last time you play the melody together, just stay on E minor.

We’re like, what?

Yeah, just stay on E minor and play E minor for a while.

And this was the first song we really started jamming on back in ’93/’94. We used to call it Blackfurry Possum.
