AJR’s Neotheater Album Spotlight

I have been absolutely obsessed with AJR’s new album Neotheater.

I wrote about how Dear Winter changed my life a few weeks back, so the hype was real in my house for the full project and damn if the Met brothers didn’t deliver. I listened to the album 3 times the first day and probably a dozen more times since then. They absolutely embraced a full concept album that builds on itself with every track.

The thing that has always been most striking to me about AJR is the intimacy and vulnerability of their lyrics. They convey such a genuine connection through their art and that authenticity is infectious.

I’m kinda scared of graduation
‘Cause who am I when this is done?
I wanna be next up forever
So the best is always yet to come
~ Next Up Forever

A hundred bad days make a hundred good stories
A hundred good stories make me interesting at parties.
~ 100 Bad Days

Oh no, don’t throw out my Legos
What if I can’t let go
What if I come back home, back home
Can we keep my Legos at home?
‘Cause I wanna move out
I don’t wanna move on
~ Don’t Throw Out My Legos

You wonder what they did before inventing the phone
Yeah, how could anybody face the quiet alone?
I’d rather be in Vegas than my very own home
Yeah, my cash will be gone, but my mind will be blown
~ The Entertainment’s Here

This show at the Anthem is going to be so cool, if you’re around DC on November 21st you absolutely should come check this out with me.
